How to get from Krakow to Auschwitz

By bus or minibus

Buses and minibuses to Oswiecim leave from the MDA bus station on Bosacka Street, next to Krakow's main railway station. They run frequently and most stop directly at the Museum or at the Oswiecim station.

The ride takes about 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. It is the cheapest option, but buses fill up in high season — buy your ticket in advance and arrive early.

By train

Trains from Krakow Glowny to Oswiecim take around 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours. From Oswiecim station it is another 2 km to the Museum: take a local bus, a taxi, or walk it in about 25 minutes.

Trains are comfortable and predictable, but you need to plan the return leg carefully, especially after 5 pm.

By car

Driving via the A4 and S1 takes about 1 hour 20 minutes without traffic. Paid parking is available at the Museum.

At busy hours entry requires a reserved time slot, so allow at least 30 minutes of buffer.

On a guided tour with hotel pickup

The simplest option is our ComFort Tours day trip: we pick you up at your Krakow hotel, take you to the Museum with entry already reserved and a licensed guide, then bring you back after Auschwitz I and Birkenau.

No timetables, no ticket queues, and no worrying about the 3 km transfer between the two parts of the Memorial.

Good to know before you go

• Allow at least 3.5 hours on site, and a full day including travel.
• Only a small bag (max. roughly 30x20x10 cm) may be brought inside.
• Dress respectfully and for the weather — much of the visit is outdoors.
• Carry photo ID; it can be checked at the entrance.
